Australia (in movie form)
Watching Baz Luhrmann’s Australia is not unlike watching the entire season of a soap opera in one sitting. It involves a predictable (and unlikely) storyline, much swooning, and may incur much rolling of the eyes (for many, if not all, viewers).
But the scenery is impressive, as are the gratuitous scenes illuminating Hugh Jackman’s musculature. Wow.
[For those of you who have watched/will watch the film, it is filmed in the Kimberley region of WA, in the northwest part of the great state. We didn’t make it there, but definitely would like to take a long road trip (with many spare fuel can, spare tyres, and a personal antennae) in that area someday.]
Ah, Western Australia. We do miss you.
