Keep Fighting

The California Supreme Court issued its decision on the legality of Proposition 8 today, upholding the existing marriages but also upholding Prop 8’s ban on future same-sex marriages. Read the decision here.  The San Francisco Chronicle’s report is here.

For those of you with California zip codes, please consider signing this petition to continue fighting for equal rights and marriage equality.

If you’d like to take further action, the Courage Campaign is raising funds to air this video on television.  You can make your contributions here.

UPDATE 5/27: The video will be airing tonight!  Please sign the pledge to repeal Prop 8 and restore marriage equality.

The tide is turning, with Iowa, Vermont, Connecticut, and Maine, joining Massachusetts in legalizing same-sex marriages, and similar legislation is pending in New York and New Hampshire.  California is meant to be a leader for progressive change, but even if we aren’t taking the lead, we do need to start joining the movement in the right direction.
