Nashville’s Parthenon

Nashville’s (nearly) exact replica of the Parthenon was originally built as a temporary (!?!) feature for the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition.  It was such a hit, they decided to keep it around permanently,  at the center of the lovely Centennial park in the heart of Nashville.  The replica of the 42-foot statue of Athena is also there, but you’ll have to pay admission to see her in all her splendor.  (You’ll have noticed the absence of photos that we chose not to visit her.)
