Joshua Tree in late October is just idyllic. We had full moon nights, and Mike and Tinos did some moonlit climbs and scrambles. One night, some fellow climbers came trick-or-treating around the campground (they’d spent the whole day climbing in full costume: Gumby, Rainbow Brite, and a fairy). They made out like bandits — marshmallows, chocolate, beer, and celery (that was from us).
Tinos led us up some fun climbs that were just our speed, given that it’s been ages since we were last out on rock, including a three-pitch climb up this guy:
We also got to inaugurate our dutch oven with a mountain man breakfast and later, a chili topped with cornbread — way more than two people should ever eat. Possibly more than three people should, but we managed ;)
All in all, it was a great few days in a gorgeous place with a good friend.
