Our school hosted a Bake Sale for Japan this Thursday.  The students made a bunch of different goodies, including carrot cake, butterscotch cookies, snickerdoodles, and banana cake.  As it was, we purchased more bananas than was needed for their cakes, so I took the remainders home and baked up a few extra treats to contribute to the sale:

banana bread

(flour’s recipe — Joanne, you are amazing)

(Pay no attention to the harsh flash and that little dangly bit of bread...)
banana toffee cupcakes
Our bake sale was purely donation-based, and was a huge success.  Donations will be sent to the Japan Red Cross via the Consulate General of San Francisco.
I hope that, in the words of some of my little guys (while making snickerdoodles) “Japan’s going to love this!”
